ABOUT ONAM Celabrations
ONAM Celebrations at Regency College
Regency College celebrated the vibrant spirit of Onam with a colourful blend of Kerala’s rich culture, traditions, creativity, and togetherness. The celebrations brought students and faculty together to experience the beauty of this harvest festival through engaging activities and traditional themes.
As part of the celebrations, our students showcased their creativity by designing a beautiful Kerala-themed campus setup, bringing the traditional charm and festive atmosphere of Kerala to life. One of the major attractions was the Onam Pookalam (floral rangoli) competition, where students worked in teams to create colourful and artistic floral designs. Pookalam is one of the most recognisable traditions of Onam and represents joy, prosperity, togetherness, and the welcoming spirit of the festival.
Adding to the festive excitement, students also participated in a creative wooden boat-making and decoration competition, inspired by Kerala’s iconic Vallam Kali (snake boat races). The activity encouraged teamwork, craftsmanship, imagination, and attention to detail while reflecting an important cultural element of Onam celebrations.
The campus was further transformed by students dressed in traditional Onam attire and Kerala-inspired costumes, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. The traditional looks, cultural get-ups, colourful decorations, and enthusiastic participation made the celebrations a memorable experience for everyone.
Through these activities, Regency College celebrated not only the festival of Onam but also the values of teamwork, creativity, cultural appreciation, hospitality, and unity—qualities that are an integral part of the student experience at Regency College.

“My journey at Regency College has been an incredible learning experience. Over the years, I have gained much more than academic knowledge—I have developed practical skills, confidence, professionalism, and a strong understanding of the hospitality industry.
The hands-on training in culinary arts, food production, bakery, service, and hotel operations helped me understand the real-world expectations of the industry. The practical sessions, events, competitions, and industry exposure gave me opportunities to improve my skills and discover my strengths.
The guidance and support from our faculty members have played an important role in my growth. They encouraged us to be creative, disciplined, and confident while preparing us for our professional careers.
