FRONT OFFICE
Front office is the department of a hotel with which guests comes in contact at the time of their arrival and is also the last department they interact with when they depart from the hotel.
ROLE IN FRONT OFFICE
Front Office has various sub departments in a hotel such as Reservation, Reception, Registration, Room assignment and settlement of bills of a guest. For any queries, guests need to contact front desk throughout their stay.
Activities of the front office department: They process the reservation requests of guests. This involves making of room’s reservation, amendments, cancellations and also traditional welcome of guests.
Registration process of guests involves assignment of rooms, handling guest’s luggage from their vehicle to assigned room on arrival and guest room to vehicle at the time of departure; accepting a guest’s valuables and cash to keep in safety deposit lockers: deliver messages, mails to resident guests, handle guests room keys , guest paging, post and verify the room charges and credit card charges in the guest folio, provide information to guests about the hotel products and services , arrange posts and courier mails and other documents, make travel arrangement such as sightseeing tours, managing the parking of guest’s own vehicles as the front office is the contact point for guests. Ergo, we can say that it is the Nerve Centre of a hotel’s operations.
