CITY EXPEDITION FOR FRESHERS AT REGENCY – JOY ON WHEELS:
“Adventures are the best way to learn”
As a part of International Tourism Day celebrations, Regency College of Culinary Arts and Hotel Management, the top notch college in India organized a city expedition for the fresher’s on 28 September, 2022 to let the students know more about the city, it’s heritage and to encourage the students to explore the places in Hyderabad.
200 students accompanied by 10 faculties visited the historical monuments of Hyderabad. Students were educated through the tourist spots, its significance and cultural history of Hyderabad by a professional Tour guide. Regency College took such an initiative for a city expedition not only to educate students but also to make college life more engaging and memorable.
THE PEARL CITY OF INDIA- HYDERABAD
Golconda fort: The capital of historic Golconda Sultanate, located in Hyderabad, Telangana was the first stop of the day which emphasized on the heritage of the fore’s architecture, and its glory. All the students and faculty enthusiastically followed their lead to climb up to the top of the fort to the King’s Durbar, from where they relished with a breath-taking view of the entire city. On the way to the top, they witnessed various other attractions of the fort like the humongous wells of ancient times, mosques, temples, prisons, etc. The expedition of the Golconda fort ended with everyone climbing back down.
The second stop of the day – Chowmahalla Palace, the palace of the Nizams of Hyderabad. The students were free to roam around to adore the palace: a museum and a great collection of vintage cars, bikes and horse carriages for the motor enthusiasts. The palace showed great architectural styles of the dynasty.
The third stop was the shine of Hyderabad – The Charminar, to its adjacent the city’s main mosque Makkah Masjid. It is also surrounded by a very popular and busy local market of the city, contributing in making it a frequented tourist attraction in Hyderabad. Students had a wonderful time walking around Charminar and the local bustling market of the city, admiring and shopping.
Last destination of the day – Salar Jung Museum, one of the notable National Museums of India. It is a repository of art objects including sculptures, paintings, carvings, textiles, manuscripts, ceramics, metallic artifacts, carpets, clocks and furniture from nearly all over the world, right from Europe, Middle East to the far Eastern countries of Asia, apart from the chronicles of rich Indian heritage. Students were accompanied by the guides and also left free to stroll through the museum. They went through the history and arts of different nations and periods. Around 5pm everyone gathered in the musical clock room for a clock show.
The city expedition came to an end after enjoying the whole day playfully.
Better perspective
One of the main benefits of the tour is the interactive sessions during these trips. Such trips allow students to freely interact with friends, teachers, and others. Visiting a site often results in the transfer of new information to a new world. At times, certain data is not included in a textbook. Therefore, a tour enhances the students’ outlook and helps them gain a fresh perspective of the city around them.
